Our annual “Show and Shine” event at the Courthouse in Somerville turned out to be a very nice time even though our usually large participation was reduced by the threat of showers and intense 95 degree plus heat (possibly the hottest Show and Shine event ever). However we still had some 15, possibly more, of our both new and long time members’ beautiful C2 through C7Corvettes of every color parked along the sidewalk in front of the courthouse. Our Club banner was prominent and many of our Corvettes sported Club flags.

The town had made up “No Parking – Reserved for the CJCC” signs for us and they were attached to the parking meters. Some of us and our family members camped out under the large tree and there we were protected from the sun and fortunately there was a nice breeze, while some of us sat out by their Corvettes and interacted with the passers by and Corvette admirers. This gave us a chance to show off our cars and describe our mods such as Arnie F.’s new rims and tires.

The foot traffic in our area was also somewhat diminished from previous years but picked up as the sun went down and the temperature moderated a little after dinner.  Many of us ate at the wide selection of restaurants on Main Street giving us a chance to see the other classic cars parked there.

Since as the evening wore on there were vacant slots, some non-member Corvette owners parked with us.  Although this is unusual, it gave us an opportunity to chat with them and provide Club brochures and info about the CJCC. Also Joel and Carol K. joined us for a while and Joel informed us that he met one of our Club’s founding members, Bobby Arnold up from Florida who visited us. Bobby, still an avid Corvette owner, was here for the pending birth of a grandchild – congratulations, Bobby.

Thanks to Dan C for making the arrangements for our parking and to all who attended. Also, thanks to Jim C. for the panoramic photo which is now posted in the sliding banners of our web site.
