Dear Fellow CJCC Members:

I will be leading this months cruise with the help of Al Tone.  We are planning something a little different.  Here is the schedule:

Meet at the Somerville A&P parking lot (south of the circle on 206, take the Orlando Drive exit) at 6:00, tail lights at 6:15

Arrive at Hillbilly Hall at 6:45

Have a cold one or quick bite to eat.

Depart Hillbilly Hall no later than 7:45

Arrive at Boardwalk Ice Cream at 8:20

The current forecast for Wednesday is rain.  I will be keeping a close watch on the weather and will send out an email by 3:00 to inform everyone of any changes.  In the event of rain, the following day (Thursday) will be the rain date.

Hope you can make it.

Regards,

The August 6th Wednesday Night Cruise went off without a hitch.  Initial weather forecasts were calling for afternoon T-Storms, but as the day went on the forecast improved.  We met at the Stop & Shop off of Orlando Drive in Raritan at 6:00.  11 Corvettes showed up and 1 Subaru (former Corvette owner Sheila & Jerry).  The weather was sunny and 80 degrees, perfect for an evening cruise.  After a brief driver’s meeting, it was tail lights at 6:15.  I lead the group through the Sourland Mountains along with the help of Al Tone.  After about a 35 minute cruise, we made a pit stop at the Hillbilly Hall in Hopewell.  There we were able to sit outside on the patio where we enjoyed each other’s company while we ate dinner and knocked down a few cold ones.

After dinner, the plan was to continue on with the cruise and work our way back to the Boardwalk Ice Cream Shop in Manville, but we were enjoying the evening so much at Hillbilly Hall, that by the time we were done eating, the sun had already set and the route that I chose would have been a little daunting.  So, several members decided to go straight home from there, while another group ventured down to Rt.206 for ice cream lead by Al Tone.  I lead the remaining group to Rita’s on Rt.202.  All-in-all, it was a very enjoyable evening spent together with fellow club members and our favorite cars.

Thank you for joining Kathy and me on this memorable cruise.
