Laurita Winery Cruise a Sucess

Bill Kelly Reports:

On Sunday, August 19, Al and Deborah Tone led the anticipated but rescheduled club cruise to the Laurita Winery at New Egypt, NJ. The weather was slightly overcast but the temperature and humidity were pleasant enough for many of us to put our tops down for the trip and not be baked by the hot sun.

There were 6 cars at the meeting place in Manville and 5 at Cranbury for a total of 11 beautiful Corvettes, C-2, C-4, C-5 and C-6.  We had a nice scenic drive to the winery. Many of our spouses and family members joined us and this made the day even nicer.

We had a casual lunch in the dining room and spent some time out on the deck overlooking the vineyards. Some of us tasted the wine, both their regular wines and the new chocolate wine. Later we hopped aboard a covered wagon and our guide, Walt, gave us an informative and sometimes humorous overview of the operation. We also met a couple of very nice Corvette owners there, one with a beautiful white and turquoise '61 and the other with a red C-6 convertible.  We gave them club brochures and business cards and told them about our activities.

After that we left for home in a couple of groups. All in all it was a delightful day and thanks to Al for putting the trip together. Also, thanks to Bill and Joan Clarkson for  being "Tail Gunners" and to Joel and Carol for being "mid-cruise communications  support" or whatever the official term for that is.
